How to update plugins centrally - with a backup before every update, bulk actions and optional automation.
Shopware 6.7 and a valid licence token. Automatic runs need an active worker, either the admin worker or messenger:consume. Sending mail requires a working Shopware mailer.
Upload the plugin in the admin, install and activate it, then open the configuration and enter the licence token.
The plugin is part of the Stone & Water plugin suite and validates the licence against our platform. Without a valid licence the features are unavailable.
The module first refreshes Shopware's plugin list, then works out which extensions have a newer version available. Installed and available versions are shown side by side.
Updates can be applied to all detected plugins at once, or selectively to individual ones. The cache is cleared automatically after the run.
With automation enabled, available updates are applied on their own. That removes routine work, but it deserves a conscious decision.
You can set a time of day for the automatic run. The scheduled task staw_update_all_direct.auto_update reports in every 15 minutes and checks whether the configured time has been reached. That way it hits the intended moment reliably without running every minute.
A time outside business hours makes sense, since caches are cleared briefly during an update.
Before applying an update the plugin can back up the current state. The plugin directory is stored as a ZIP named after plugin, version and timestamp, for example MyPlugin_v1.2.3_20260720-1200.zip, in Shopware's private file area, separated per plugin.
Which plugins get backed up is a choice, so no backups pile up for extensions where they are not needed.
By default the last five backups per plugin are kept and older ones are removed automatically. The value can be changed; set to 0, all backups are kept.
An earlier version can be restored from the list of backups. Before restoring, the plugin first creates a safety copy of the current state - in case the older version turns out not to be the answer either.
After an automatic run the plugin sends a summary to a configured address: what was updated, what failed. Sending goes directly through the Symfony mailer, so it works independently of mail templates.
Check that the plugin list is current and that the extensions in question report updates through Shopware at all. Directly sourced plugins need a valid licence with their respective vendor.
Without an active worker no scheduled task runs. Also check the configured time of day.
Either no recipient is configured, there was nothing to report, or Shopware's mail sending is not set up. Sending errors are written to the log.
Restore the backup of the affected plugin. A safety copy of the current state is created automatically in the process.
